Arts club Inauguration and Youth Festival 2011-‘12

Our school aims at the all-round development of a child both in curricular and co- curricular activities. Cultural competition is one of the liveliest programmes in our school which enables each student to unveil his/her talents. Shri. Madhupal, Cine artiste and Director was the Chief Guest at the Arts Club inauguration on 28 July, 2011. The inauguration was followed by cultural competitions by students from Stds III to XII. 29 July was also set apart for the performances of the four Houses Ganges, Yamuna, Brahmaputra and Indus put up their best performance.

The secret of the success of our institution so far, depended on persons of yester years committed to their vocation, morally upright, just and humane. They also helped to promote a true vision of education. Here we remember the great works and excellent administration of our former Principal and Vice Principal. The former Principal Rev. Fr. Bino Pattarkalam CMI, a man of great vision and professionally competent, has taken up higher studies. He believed that education should help the children to bring out their talents and develop their potential for their integrated growth as individuals. The former Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Johnson Palackal CMI was a man of love, ideas and recognition. He is a genius and has a vast knowledge in all fields. He joined as High School Teacher in Alapuzha. May god bless both of them.

Onam celebration

Our State Festival Onam was celebrated on 20^th August 2010 amid enthusiastic students and staffs. Mr. P.K Gopan, Kerala Film Development Cop. Member, Purogamana Kala Sahithya Sangham President, Kollam was the chief guest of the day. Different competitions were conducted for the students which included frog jump, tug of war, lemon and spoon, Maaveli Vaamanan etc.

The teaching and non teaching staff of Jawahar too had their Onam celebrations in Taj Hotel, Varkala on 18^th August. They had competitions organized by Rev. Fr. Johnson Palackal and a delicious ‘ ‘Onasadhya’ at the hotel.

The students as well as the teachers wished Onam greetings at the end of the celebration.

Athletic Winners

The athletes of Jawahar Public Senior Secondary School brought laurels to the institution when they participated in the CBSE South Zone Athletic Meet 2010 on 24^th July in Chandrasekhar Nair Stadium, TVM. The girls( Under 14) bagged the Overall Champions Trophy.

Mrs. Sona Nair, Cine & Serial artist was the chief guest of our Arts Club inauguration on 29^th July. The inauguration followed by the cultural competitions of the students from play class to std IV 30^th July was also set apart for the performances of the kids. ( Cat. I – IV)

The students from UP section to senior Secondary Section ( Cat. IV – VI) celebrated Jawahar Fest on 1^stAugust. The Ganges House bagged the first position in the cultural competitions.

Investiture Ceremony

The colourful and prestigious ceremony of Investiture was held on 22^nd June 2010. It is a rare and the most remarkable occasion in the school curriculum in which the students are assigned their duties in the new academic year. Rev. Fr. Bino Pattarkalam administered the oath and handed over the school flag and the four house flags to the leaders concerned

The Kindergarten is the key to learning and high proportion of learning takes place during these formative years of childhood. The Kindergarten section reopened on 9^th June 2010. The LKG students were welcomed to the new world of alphabets with the blessed, ‘Upanayana Ceremony’ organized by Rev. Fr. Johnson Palackal and Senior KG staffs.

Education as its root word signifies is the drawing out of the innate god given talents of the individual for the benefit of the community. To find out the talents of the children is the duty of the parents. The parent is the primary educator but this task is usually handed over to the school by the parents on various reasons. Through education he learns about his environment, fellow beings, social values and moral values, adjustability, truth ,peace ,justice etc.

Education should help the children in bringing out their talents and developing their potentials for their integrated growth as individuals. So the duty of educator is a honourable one, that is why our ancient tradition says like this “mata – pitha- guru –deivam”. As educators the role of parents and teachers is to fulfill the plan of god and share with him the creative work of god.

As we follow two term system the 1^st volume of Jawahar Campus will be issued in October and 2^nd volume in March. We had an eventful term from June – Sept. Through Jawahar campus you can have a glimpse of the various activities conducted in the school. At this juncture may I thank all the parents, teachers, office staff and supporting staff for their relentless support and encouragement.
