Our FOUNDER
Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara
Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara was born on 10 February 1805 at Kainakary, Kerala. At the age of five he began his studies in a village school, called kalari. When he was 13, he joined the seminary at Pallipuram for his priestly training. While he was in the seminary, his parents and his eldest brother died of an epidemic. On 29 November 1829, he became a priest. Saint Chavara was instrumental in founding two Catholic Religious Congregations - one for men, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), and the other for women, Congregation of Mother of Carmel (CMC), for the spiritual renewal and all round development of the society.
History
Jawahar Public School, situated in a serene rural set up of Edava near the palm–fringed Varkala beach is owned and managed by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) of the St. Joseph’s Province, Thiruvananthapuram. St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of the CMI Congregation, was one of the pioneers of education in Kerala in the 19th Century and he promoted education for all, without any distinction of caste, creed or religion. Following the footsteps of their Founder, the CMI Congregation now runs hundreds of educational institutions all over India.Mission
The Catholic Church in India wants to impart “an education of quality and relevance to all, and in particular, to the marginalized sections of society- an education that frees persons from the social conditioning (such caste, class, gender and other culture-linked prejudices) which prevents them from living as free persons, and which, instead, enables them to see life as a occasion and as a gift, and which enables them to make free considered choices in the key areas that affect their personal lives.”Vision
Our school aims at forming leaders, who are intellectually competent, spirituality healthy and socially acceptable, who will champion the cause of justice, love, truth and peace and who are ever open to further growth. We aspire towards creating a just and humane society where dignity of the human person is respected, where unjust social structures are challenged, where our cultural heritage of ahimsa, religious harmony and national unity are up helped, and where the poor and the marginalized are specially taken care of.Our institution is open to all students irrespective of cast creed; they are accepted and cherished as they are and are helped to grow in their cultural, social and religious traditions.Manager's Message
The school is a dynamic organisation and has moved from strength to strength with the support, cooperation and synergy among teachers, parents, students and the entire community. Now is the time to transform education, to emerge stronger and propose a new path for our students to carve a niche for themselves in the world.
I wish peace, wellness and mindfulness to everyone!

Principal’s Message
Education as its root word signifies is the drawing out of the innate god given talents of the individual for the benefit of the community. To find out the talents of the children is the duty of the parents. The parent is the primary educator but this task is usually handed over to the school by the parents on various reasons. Through education he learns about his environment, fellow beings, social values and moral values, adjustability, truth ,peace ,justice etc.
