GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS
- A sense of discipline and adherence to rules has to be inculcated and cultivated in students in their schooldays so that they may grow into responsible citizens. Strict observance of the rules and regulations of the school helps them in this regard. So the rules and regulations have to be looked upon not as restrictions imposed on them but as part of their school life that helps them to form a good character. All the school activities are directed towards this end.
- A student of Jawahar Public School is expected.
- To be gentle and kind to others in and out of school.
- To observe faithfully the rules and regulations of the school and obey all elders and teachers.
- To develop healthy habits of mind and body by constant self discipline.
- To acquire qualities of leadership and competency in the art of communication.
- To strive to be gentlemen and ladies, to learn to serve and help others.
- To be friendly and courteous to all.
- To be truthful and honest at all costs.
- To have a sense of neatness and cleanliness
- To be respectful to their teachers, parents and elders.
- To participate fully in all the activities of the school.
- The school hours are from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm. All students must be regular and punctual. Every day, students should reach the school before 8:45 am. Late-comers will be fined Rs. 5/- per day. No student can leave the school premises during the school hours without the permission of the Principal.
- Textbooks and notebooks must be brought to class according to the timetable.
- Wearing school uniform is obligatory under penalty of exclusion from classroom.
- Students should keep their uniform, books, class rooms and school premises clean and tidy.
- Students should not wear any costly ornaments to school, for the loss of which neither the Management nor the teachers will be responsible.
- Students should feel it below their dignity to shout/ quarrel, wander around, cause disturbance or use obscene language. All complaints should be brought to the notice of the Principal through the class teacher.
- Students should bring their Handbook to school daily, that it can be produced on demand by the Principal. Those who lose it shall get another at a higher cost. No pupil is allowed to tear any page from this diary or misuse it. Students must display their identity card in the school premises. responsible for the loss of books or other valuable items.
- Students should not bring any periodicals, comics, magazines, toys etc to school without the permission of the class teacher.
- Students should greet their teachers, elders and one another when they are in the school campus. Students must use polite expressions and practice good manners in their conversation and behaviour.
- The training in Spoken English will help the students to improve their communication skills. Hence all students should speak English in the classrooms, on the campus and in the school buses.
- Students should speak confidently and frankly, never be shy but always remain cheerful.
- They must have genuine love for their school. No one should do anything that would bring discredit to himself or to the institution.
- The students should see that no damage is done to the school property. The damage or loss of school property or that of other students should be repaired at the cost of those responsible for it.
- Nobody should disfigure the walls, furniture, library books or any part of the school premises. Fines will be collected and punishment imposed if the rule is violated. Those who cause the damage will be liable to repair it at their own cost.
- Students are not allowed to exchange any articles or money among themselves. Collection of money is not allowed unless it is explicitly permitted by the Principal.
- Though care is taken of pupils’ property, the school does not hold itself responsible for any theft, damage or loss. Every student is responsible for the safe keeping of his/her belongings.
- Any lost article found anywhere in the campus should be handed over to the Principal, as it is the duty of a good student of the school. The owner of lost articles should report the matter to the Principal at the earliest. Parents of the children thus affected may recover the lost articles from the Principal at the earliest.
- No one shall distribute any notice or printed matter among the students or staff without the permission of the Principal. They are not allowed to stick posters anywhere in the campus without the permission of the Principal. All the notices on the Notice Board should bear the signature of the Principal. Similarly, no meeting, picnic or any kind of organised group activity shall be arranged without the permission of the Principal. Students are not permitted to indulge in political activities.
- Home assignments should be done regularly and submitted on time.
- Playing in the classroom or corridors is strictly prohibited.
- Students suffering from contagious or infectious diseases will not be allowed to attend classes.
- No vehicle will be allowed to enter the school compound during school hours without the permission of the Principal.
- The classroom, corridors and the school premises should be kept neat and clean. All waste materials must be put into the dustbins provided. Students must take care of the display boards, walls, furniture, black boards, shelves etc
- Any change in the address of students should be informed to the school authorities without delay.
- Students are not supposed to loiter in the corridors during class hours. Whenever they have to move to the language classes, library, laboratory, auditorium, playground etc. they should do so in an orderly manner without disturbing other classes.
- Students are forbidden to bring video game sets, knives, razor blades, sharp objects or any weapons, for obvious reasons.
- Use of mobile phones and exchange of CDs are not allowed on the campus.
- Students found in the campus under the influence of drugs / alcohol shall be seriously dealt with.
CLASS RULES
- When the teacher enters the classroom, all students should stand up and greet him /her and resume their seats only when the teacher asks them to sit down. Similarly, when the teacher leaves the classroom, all students must stand up and convey their thankfulness.
- If a teacher does not come to the class at the start of a period, the Class Prefect should maintain the discipline of the class. If the teacher does not come even after three minutes, the Prefect should send his assistant to report the matter to the Principal. All students should remain silent and study till the teacher comes to the class.
- In the absence of a teacher, the Class Prefect assumes the responsibility of maintaining order and discipline in the class.
- Pupils must be in their classrooms before the First Bell at 8.45 am and 12.30 pm. Immediately after the First Bell , on the days when there is school assembly, they should march class-wise to the places assigned to the respective classes on the assembly ground. On the other days they should sit in their classrooms in silence. At the Second Bell all should stand up for prayer. Immediately after the prayer teachers will mark the students’ attendance. The First period starts with the Third Bell at 9.00 am.
- During intervals and playtime pupils are not allowed to go out of the School Campus without the permission of the Principal.
- They should avoid shouting and quarrelling. All complaints should be brought to the notice of the Principal through the class teacher.
- Parents should acknowledge by their signature, the entries made in the column intended for parents in the Handbook.
- Pupils of one class are not allowed to enter other classrooms without the permission of the Principal.
ATTENDANCE
- Attendance will be marked after the Second Bell before the beginning of the First Period in the forenoon and afternoon.
- Late-coming is strictly discouraged and late-comers will be given attendance only if the Principal is satisfied with his/ her explanation for being late. Late pass with the signature of the Principal is necessary for entering the class.
- Irregular attendance or attendance shortage is sufficient reason for the dismissal of a student.
- Every pupil is required to put in an attendance of not less than 90% of the total number of working days.
- Those who absent themselves from class continuously for fifteen days or more, without formal intimation, will have their names removed from the rolls. Any re-admission on genuine request needs the formalities of a new admission.
- Leave of absence for reasons other than sudden illness, requires previous written application. A student who requires leave for a whole day or part should apply through the columns given in the Handbook. The reason for absence is to be explained in the Handbook and signed by the parent / guardian. If prior permission cannot be obtained for reasons beyond control, an application for leave (in due form) signed by the parent/ guardian should be sent to the Principal on the first day of absence.
- No leave of absence is generally granted during examination. The students who absent themselves from any examination for any reason will be considered as having failed in the particular examination. In case of illness, a medical certificate can be produced for overcoming attendance shortage.
- No student will be granted permission to leave the school, even in urgent cases, unless a duly authorized person reports with a written request from the parent.
LEAVE OR ABSENCE
- As regular attendance is an important factor for successful school work, no student should absent himself / herself from class without serious reason.
- Leave for a part of the day must be obtained from the Principal by a written application from the parent or guardian stating clearly the reason in the Leave Record page of the Handbook.
- Those who return to school after absenting themselves without leave shall not enter the class without a leave-note from the parents written on the Absence Record page of the Handbook, duly signed by the Principal.
- In the case of long illness, the Principal must be informed in writing within four days. In such cases a separate leave application from the parent with a medical certificate has to be produced on the first day of the return of the student to the school after his / her long illness.
- A student who comes late shall not enter the class without the consent of the Principal. The class teacher should mark the late-coming in the Late-Record page of the Handbook.
- Repeated or extended absence of fifteen days without leave renders the student liable to have his / her name struck off the rolls. Readmission, if granted, will only be after the clearance of all the dues and a fresh payment of re-admission charge of Rs.500/-.
- Students, who absent themselves from any of the terminal examination for any reason will be considered having failed for the particular examination.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR TEACHERS OF JAWAHAR PUBLIC SCHOOL
- Gentlemanly /lady like behaviour is expected in and out of school, befitting the stature of JAWAHAR PUBLIC SCHOOL.
- Teachers should reveal neither information pertaining to students to anyone outside the school,nor reveal their marks except through the normal procedure.
- Teachers are discouraged to accept any gifts or services by virtue of being a teacher of JAWAHAR PUBLIC SCHOOL.
- Teachers are not to entertain students or parents at their residence for official purposes.
- The teachers of JAWAHAR PUBLIC SCHOOL are totally discouraged from taking tuitions for the students for monetary benefit. It is assumed that teachers need to relax and prepare for their classes, at the end of each day.
- Teachers are supposed to report at school five minutes before the First Bell (8.45 am) and sign the Attendance Register and leave school only after they have signed the Register.
- All teachers are responsible for the discipline in and outside the school, and in particular when they are specifically assigned as Teachers on Duty.
- All teachers are expected to be present for all school functions and to see that proper discipline is maintained throughout the function. Discipline is the combined responsibility of all concerned.
- The staff room area is a zone of silence, marked for correction and preparation for classes. Recreation is permitted only during the intervals.
- All accessories taken by the teacher in carrying out their duty especially Library Books, Teacher’s Copy etc should be returned promptly.
- The teachers should correct the notebooks regularly and meticulously within the allotted time.
- While dealing with the students the teachers should be very prudent and should handle the students with utmost care, love, concern and support to mould them into the best citizens. In addition to academics, the teachers have to impart good values in the minds of students.
- The teachers must communicate compulsorily in English inside the school campus and should take special initiative to improve English communication skills among students.
